Pauline Quinn Obituary

Pauline Catherine Quinn, 87, formerly of Salem, passed away on January 16, 2024, at Hampton Woods in Poland, Ohio. Born on October 30, 1936, in Wimber PA, she was the eldest daughter of the late Walter V. and Pearl M. (Anthony) Rupert.

A 1954 graduate of New Waterford High School and a 1956 graduate of Youngstown Business College, Pauline is survived by her brother, John Ruppert; daughter, Patricia K Peterson (Bill) of Rogers, Ohio; stepson, James T. (Sue) Quinn of Phoenix, Arizona; and a son, Dennis S. Quinn. She leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Her husband, James Quinn, whom she married on November 29, 1956, preceded her in death on April 7, 2010, as did her only sister, Maxine A. Mudger in 1992.

Known for her magical knack of "making something out of nothing," Pauline's craftwork, plant nurturing, and culinary skills were unparalleled. Her crochet work was machine-like perfect, and her lasagna was unmatched. She welcomed everyone to her dinner table, embodying a selfless spirit. Always ready to help without boasting, she left a lesson for us all.

One of her greatest joys was having her two grandchildren, Jim and Jon, close to her. She took pride in their achievements and enjoyed watching them become parents. Her inner peace and pride were evident, never expressed through bragging but a quiet contentment.

Pauline cherished her nieces and nephews, making each feel special. Her niece, Michelle, held a special place in her heart, becoming like a daughter after the loss of her sister, Maxine. Michelle was Maxine's only child.

In her final years, Pauline found comfort with her daughter Patty and husband Bill in their Rogers, Ohio home, surrounded by caregivers, nephew Charles, niece SamiJo, and Taylor. She found joy in watching her great-grandchildren, observing deer in the backyard, and the birds at the feeder.

Gratitude is extended to all who assisted in her care, especially the wonderful staff at Hampton Woods, where she was treated like a queen.

Services will be held at Stark Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with calling hours one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery.
