SALEM-Phillip E. Panezott, 58, passed away unexpectedly, July 10, 2025, at his home.
Phillip was born August 29, 1966, in Salem, Ohio, a son of James and Betty (MaGaw) Panezott.
A Salem High School alumnus, Class of 1986, Phil dedicated most of his professional life to Tri-Fab Inc., where he was a valued member of the paint department. Phil's true passion lay in his service to the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Since its establishment on January 1, 1988, Phil was an integral part of the department, contributing over 36 years of service. His roles included that of a firefighter, EMT, captain, and ultimately fire chief.
His service also extended to the fire department's association, where he held positions as a former trustee, vice president, and president. Even in retirement, Phil remained a guiding force, offering his expertise during training nights, attending monthly meetings, and supporting the department's events. Phil was a quiet man, but when he spoke, his words and opinions were highly valued. He was well-respected for his knowledge, leadership skills, and commitment to serving the department and his community.
Phil leaves to carry on his memory, his brothers, George Panezott and James Panezott, both of Salem; sister-in-law, Bev Panezott of Salem; and niece and nephews, Sarah (Curtis) Jones, Bransen (Taylor) Panezott, David (Casey) Panezott, James (Gina) Panezott, Jordan (Maiqui) Panezott, and Brady Panezott.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Lisa Panezott.
