Primo R.J. Citino

May 13th, 1943- December 8th, 2022

Primo R.J. Citino, 79, passed away from complications of surgery on December 8th, 2022 surrounded by his wife and children. 

Primo was born in Salem, Ohio and was a 1961 Salem High School graduate. Primo joined the U.S Navy where he participated in three 2nd and 4th fleet deployments onboard USS Claude V. Ricketts and USS Nimitz as a Radarman Petty Officer. 

Primo and his best friend Dan Engle married sisters Chery and Margie over 50 years ago. Their bond continues to be unbreakable. He was Vice President of home and school at St. Paul’s and Vice Chairman of the Democratic party of Columbiana County. He worked 25 years at General Motors where he participated on committees where he planned many parties and always on top of the local poker games. Primo spent much time at the ELKS alongside his friends.  

Primo was a teaching umpire for 15 years where he gained the respect of the parents and players alike. Every Saturday and Sunday you could find Primo and his children chopping wood and was often creating many wooden projects. He was very active in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, attending sporting events, plays and tournaments and teaching his children and grandchildren how to have a green thumb. Primo loved his time in the “Boys Club” where he got to hangout with his sons and their friends. 

Primo is survived by his wife Cheryl McKimm of Alliance, whom he was married to for 55 years, and his Children:Nicholas with daughters Piper and Zoe of Maryland. Julie (John Scarabino) with children Shelby, Christian and Cason of Ohio and Sidney of California. Benjamin of Florida with children Isabella and Nicholas of Virginia. Primo also has his first great grandchild, Nova, on the way. He is also survived by his sisters. Joan Phillips and Jeanie Barclay of Wisconsin and Annetta of California. 

Primo is preceded in death by his parents, Primo and Mildred. His brother, Frankie. His nephew, Matthew McDonald and his dear friend, Matthew Melitschka. Primo was Catholic by faith.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 5-7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m at Stark Memorial.
