SALEM - Raymond Oliver Cox, 71, of Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, with his family by his side. Raymond was the son of the late William “Bill” and Sybil (Oakley) Cox. He was born on December 5, 1953, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Besides his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his son, Lonie Johnson; granddaughter, Olivia Henderson; and brother, Luther Cox.
Raymond is fondly remembered by his wife, Jan (Schaeffer) Cox; children, Angela (Jeff) Henderson, Eric (Becca) Cox, William Cox, Elizabeth (Jarrod) Hutto, Jennifer (David) Gilbert, Brandi (Jordan Derousselle) Cox, Emilie (Jake) Andre, and Jesse (Lourdes) Reeks; grandchildren, Abigail Henderson, Samuel (Caroline) Henderson , Alexis Cox, Vivian Cox, Noah Cox, Anna Hutto, Andrew Hutto, Daniel Gilbert, Matthew Gilbert, Jayce Derousselle, and Benjamin Reeks; great grandson, Jackson; and other loving family and friends.
Raymond was very active in the Salem Elks, was the coordinator or Guitars 4 Vets, and Elder for the First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Salem Historical Society. Alongside Jan, he owned and operated Salem Music Centre. Raymond enjoyed repairing guitars, road trips, fixing anything he could, and helping others. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home with an Elks Service beginning at 6:45pm. Rev. Annie Parker will officiate a memorial service at 7:00pm.
