SALEM - Richard W. Lease Sr,, at the age of 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born on October 17, 1935, Richard was the son of the late Clarence and Elsie (Gidley) Lease.
Richard was a graduate of Salem High School, before embarking on a fulfilling career at Deming Pump. His dedication to the company spanned an impressive 30 years, where his hard work and loyalty were well-known and respected. Richard was an active and contributing member of the community, including his past membership with the Eagles.
An individual of varied interests and passions, Richard was an avid bowler, often found perfecting his game at the local lanes. His commitment to helping others was evident in his remarkable achievement of donating 30 gallons of blood over many years, a testament to his generous spirit.
Richard's enthusiasm for collecting was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for history and the simpler times. His extensive collection of milk bottles and antiques brought him great joy, and he could often be found at flea markets and auctions, adding to his treasured assemblage.
His wife, Virginia Lease (Schultheis), whom he married on April 14, 1962, died on June 10, 2018.
Richard is survived by his children, Debbie (Steve) Toth of Lisbon, Richard (Michelle) Lease of Salem, James Lease of Hanoverton, and Connie (Mark) Menning of Salem. His legacy continues through his 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, each of whom he loved dearly. Richard is also survived by his sister, Shirley Lease of Lisbon.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Arnold Lease, Donald Lease, Clarence Lease, Anna Jean Daugherty, and Lillian Hughes.
In keeping with Richard's wishes, there will be no services held. Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
