LISBON-Robert E. Vaughn, 58, passed away on May 11, 2026, surrounded by family.

Robert, affectionately known as "Bob," was born on December 5, 1967, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of William and Velma (Perry) Vaughn.

Bob was a graduate of South Range High School and later earned his mechanic certification. He began working as a mechanic with Midas and then Suburban VW, both in Boardman, before accepting a position with General Motors in Lordstown as a tow motor driver. When the Lordstown plant closed, he was transferred to GM's Indiana plant for several years before returning to Ohio, and working for GM's car battery plant, Ultium Cells, in Warren, until his recent cancer diagnosis.

From an early age, Bob had a passion for riding. What began with dirt bikes as a child grew into a lifelong love of motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson. He found great joy in the open road and especially treasured riding alongside his wife. In addition to his love of mechanical work, which included working on his Corvette and motorcycles, Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and deer hunting on his property. A dedicated family man, Bob loved spending time with family and enjoyed coaching his son in Lisbon Little League.

In addition to his father, Bill of Salem, Bob is survived by his wife, the former Mary A. Evans, whom he married October 23, 1993; sons, Chase Vaughn of Salem and Robert Vaughn Jr. of Lisbon; stepson, Jonathan Gbur of Youngstown; siblings, Barb Armstead of Greenford, William (Angela) Vaughn Jr. of Greenford, and Jerry (Sharon) Vaughn of Diamond; mother-in-law, Jessie Brownley of Beloit; and stepgrandson, Thomas Gbur of Youngstown.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Velma.

Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, followed by a concluding prayer.
