SALEM – Ronald M. Jackson, 79, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 25, 1945, in Salem, he was the cherished son of the late Wayne R. and Mary A. (Liebhart) Jackson.
Ronald proudly served his country as an aviation machinist during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy, showing the courage and dedication that would be a common thread throughout his life. A long-time resident of the area, Ronald was an active member of Greenford Christian Church, embodying the values of faith and community that were central to his life.
In his professional life, Ronald dedicated many years to Packard Electric before he retired, and then poured his passion into the Salem Boxing Club as a part-owner, where he became a mentor to many young individuals. His interest in collecting antique toys, banks, and knives was more than just a hobby; it was a way of connecting with the past and preserving history for the future.
Ronald's legacy is carried on through his beloved wife, Shirley (Doyle) Spencer Jackson, whom he married on June 14, 2006. His memory will forever live in the hearts of his children, Karen Spencer, Robert Spencer, and Shannon (Wesley) Dunbar, who will always cherish the lessons and love he imparted. His sister, Wenda Ryman, along with several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, will continue to recall the warmth and humor that Ronald extended at every family gathering.
Preceding him in death, alongside his parents, were his son, Steven Spencer; his great-grandson, Camdyn; a beloved brother, and three dear sisters. His departure has created a void that can never be filled, but the impact he made will provide comfort and many memories to those who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Ronald's extraordinary life from 10:00-12 Noon Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Greenford Christian Church. The funeral service will be held in Ronald's memory immediately following, with Pastor Rocky DeFrank officiating.
