SALEM - Ronnie "Johnny" R. Wright, 75, passed away, surrounded by family, on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Salem Regional Medical Center.
Ronnie was born on May 18, 1949 in Pikeville, KY, the son of the late Olin and Augusta Moore Wright.
As a young child, Johnny and his family moved to Kensington, Ohio, where he remained a resident the rest of his life. He married the love of his life, the former Jean M. Coffee, on August 23, 1969, and they celebrated a union that lasted 37 years, before her passing on June 30, 2007.
Johnny was a graduate of United High School, Class of 1967, and worked the majority of his career in the oil fields, retiring from Arrow Oil Field Services. One to never sit for long, Johnny found great joy in retirement working as a driver for the Amish community, who became his dear friends and some he considered family.
A dedicated family man, Johnny took great pride in taking care of his family and was a natural caretaker. He adored his title as "Pap John" and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Johnny never met a stranger and loved striking up conversation with everyone he encountered. His love for people and his generosity knew no bounds as he was always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
His bright smile, jovial personality, and sense of humor will be missed by all those who loved him.
Johnny leaves to carry on his memory his children, Natalie (Steven) Hlucky of Chippewa Lake, Ohio and Todd (Mandi) Wright of Minerva, Ohio; his five grandchildren, Gage (fiancee Lillian), Blake, and Jace Wright, and Kyle and Troy Hlucky; great-grandchildren, Colton, Elena, and Grayson Wright; sister, Brenda Mercaldi of Palm Harbor, FL; a host of extended family, friends, and his Amish community family.
In addition to his parents and wife , Johnny was preceded in death by his brothers, Randall and Freddie.
Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem. Interment will be at Woodsdale Cemetery.
