Roy Pitts Obituary

SALEM - Roy Pitts, 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Salem Regional Medical Center, after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer several months ago.

Roy was born on November 14, 1954, in Salem, Ohio, the son the late Graham "Red" and Marybelle (Guthrie) Pitts.

A lifelong area resident, Roy's steadfast work ethic was a hallmark of his character. His more than 30 years of dedicated service to Summitville Tile were a testament to his loyalty and his commitment to quality.

Beyond his professional life, Roy found joy and freedom on the open road. A proud rider, his Harley Davidson was his companion on countless adventures and his attendance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was a highlight. Roy's passions extended to his Ford Ranger pickup, which he loved to customize with new accessories, listening to country music and oldies rock, and meeting his friends for breakfast.

Above all, Roy was a loving family man, and his heart belonged to his daughters and grandchildren. He was so proud of each of them and loved nothing more than his title of "Pa."

He leaves to carry on his memory, his three daughters, Brooke Power of Pittsburgh, PA, Jordan (Mike) Deutschlander of Fort Bragg, NC, and Chantel (Nathaniel) Isner of Westminster, SC; five grandchildren, Gavin Power, Riley Isner, Stella Deutschlander, Calvin Isner, and Michael Deutschlander; his former wife and best friend, Debora Roseburg of Hanoverton; sister, Bonnie (Charles) Moore; nephew, Brian (Jackie) Moore; and great-nephew, Logan Moore.

Per Roy's request, there will be no calling hours or services.

Although not a veteran himself, Roy's eldest daughter is a U.S. Army veteran, and he supported many veterans' organizations through the years. In his memory, memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org, and clicking the donate tab.

"He's up in heaven now, he took that final ride.

He's with the angels now, flying by his side.

He's riding like an eagle, beyond where we can see.

He took that final journey...forever riding free." - Author Unknown
