SALEM -Scott Allen Worrell Sr. passed away Thursday evening, September 5, 2024, in the Cleveland Clinic, at the age of 60, with his loved ones at his bedside. Scott was born on July 11, 1964, in Melbourne, Florida, the son of the late Donald Lee Worrell and Barbara Nycum. He was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering kindness. His presence brought light and comfort to all who knew him.
He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife, Janet (Dustman) Worrell, whom he married on April 30, 2012. His legacy continues through his son, Scott A. Worrell Jr. and his wife Andrea of Austintown; stepson, Andrew Humphreys and his wife Alison of Lexington, SC; stepdaughter, Amanda Wood and her husband Brian of Hanoverton; and his sister, Cynthia Ramey of Louisville. Scott's joy was multiplied with the blessing of six grandchildren, Vinnie, Avery, Audrey, Ava, Bryce, Logan, who will carry forward his spirit of generosity and affection. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lee Worrell and Barbara Nycum, as well as his brothers, Kevin L. Worrell and Daniel Worrell, and two nephews.
An alumnus of Canton South High School, Scott was well-known for his strong work ethic and his skilled craftsmanship in the construction industry.
Scott's interests were riding and repairing Harley Davidson motorcycles and garden tractor pulling. He was a Cleveland Browns fan. Most importantly, he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. The memories created during family gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments will continue to be a source of comfort and joy for his family.
Those who knew Scott will remember him as a kind-hearted and friendly soul. His genuine interest in the well-being of others, his easy smile, and his readiness to lend a helping hand were hallmarks of his character. He approached life with a giving attitude and would have given the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He loved to laugh and make others laugh with him.
Scott's life was a testament to the values he held dear – family, friendship, hard work, and kindness. As we bid farewell to a man of such admirable qualities, we also celebrate the indelible impact he made on the world around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his influence will continue to be felt through the lives of his family and friends.
As we honor the memory of Scott Allen Worrell Sr., a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Winona Friends Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2024, at the church and again from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
