SALEM - Shirley Donnalley was a proud graduate of her local high school and went on to dedicate 18 years of service to the A & P Meat Packing Company. Her commitment to her work was second only to the love and care she showed to her family and friends. On June 25, 1957, she married Dale Donnalley, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing on March 9, 2009.
Throughout her life, Shirley was a pillar of strength and grace, outliving her parents, her daughter, Paulette E. Meyers; her half-siblings, Jane Tomlinson, George Nave, Dan Nave, and Martha Bleta; her stepmother, Lila (Allen) Melhorn, and stepsiblings, Lloyd Allen and Elaine Jacobson. Despite these losses, Shirley's light never dimmed, and she continued to embody the virtues of kindness, wisdom, and gentleness that were her hallmark.
Shirley's warm presence will be deeply missed by her stepbrother, Dewight Allen and her devoted friends and caregivers, Ruth Baker and Deena Radcliff, who stood by her side with unwavering support. They, along with all who knew Shirley, will forever cherish the memories of her soft-spoken words, her thoughtful advice, and her comforting embrace.
Shirley's caregivers would like to thank the staff and residents of Blossom Care Center for their care and support for Shirley for the last few years as well as the staff of both Salem Regional Medical Center and Hospice for their care of Shirley the last six months.
Friends will be received from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Jay Eastman officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Salem on Monday.
