Stephen "Buck" Baker Obituary

Stephen “Buck” Baker, 57, of Salem, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, with his family by his side. In his passing, Buck gave the gift of life as an organ donor.

A lifelong Salem resident, Buck worked as a tool and die maker at Craig Tooling, Quaker Manufacturing, TruCut, and Grayfin Manufacturing. He had a passion for teaching others and took pride in passing on his skills to his son, Stephen Baker, who now carries on his legacy at Grayfin Manufacturing.

Buck was known for his unforgettable personality and wide range of interests. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and couldn't be separated from the TV when "the game" was on. He loved classic rock and classic cars and was also a skilled mechanic who rebuilt his own 1970 Chevelle. Buck enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, and was a fan of the TV shows American Pickers and Pawn Stars, often collecting unique items he imagined sending to the shows.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Angela “Toni” Baker (Ross); daughter, Stasia (Jason) Floor; and son, Stephen Baker. He was the proud grandfather of Levi Baker, Aviendha Floor, and Kaladin Floor. Buck is also survived by his siblings, Ernest Baker of Washingtonville and Terese (Tom) Mohn of Girard; niece and nephew, Alexis and Thomas Mohn; stepmother, Oralee Baker; brothers, Tom, Wayne, and Bill (Marcy) Evans; and his aunt, Eleanor Bell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Baker Sr., and mother, Helen Kupka.

Whether he was under the hood of a car or in front of the TV cheering for the Browns, Buck lived life with heart and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Aultman Hospital for their compassionate care during Buck’s final days. In the spirit of Buck’s love for music and life, the family leaves you with one of his favorite song lyrics:
“Rock and roll all night, and party every day.” – KISS
