Terry McElroy Obituary

SALEM – Terry Mitchell McElroy, age 69 passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at his home. He was born June 2, 1949 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of Carrie E. (Smith) McElroy and the late James M. McElroy.

Terry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Arco. Terry was a 1967 graduate of Alliance High School and received Associate degrees from Kent State University. He was Scoutmaster for the St. Paul Troop 6 in Salem from February 28, 1999 to present. Terry received the Silver Beaver Award in 2005 and the Order of the Arrow in 1996. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Salem where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy (Heim) McElroy; a son, Robert James McElroy (Sara Hawkins-McElroy) of North Benton; mother, Carrie McElroy of Canton and sisters, Joyce (Rick Sams) of Alliance and Debbie (David) Linton of Canton and father-in-law, Paul Robert Heim and sister-in-law, Becky Heim, both of Salem; granddaughters, Samantha McElroy-Scheetz, Shea Hawkins-Buckner and Elena Hawkins-Kelleher; nieces, Katie and Ami and nephews, Eric, Adam and Christopher.

Besides his father, his son, William George McElroy preceded him in death in 2003 and father James M. McElroy preceded him in death in 1990.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Boy Scouts, Troop 6, c/o Stark Memorial Funeral Home, P.O. Box 748, Salem, OH 44460.
