Theodore Keniston Sr. Obituary

SALEM - Theodore D. Keniston Sr., 82, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away September 28, 2024, at Grace Woods Senior Living in Salem.

Theodore served his country with pride as a cook in the Air Force. After his military service, he continued to delight others with his culinary skills as a chef at various restaurants in Michigan and Ohio, including the beloved former Timberlanes.

He was a man with a big heart, especially when it came to animals. An avid animal lover, Theodore never hesitated to take in strays, providing them with a loving home and the care they deserved. His kindness extended to all living creatures, and his acts of compassion were a true reflection of his character.

Theodore's love for sports was undeniable. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, staunchly supporting everything Michigan. His spirited cheers and unwavering loyalty to his teams were part of the lively atmosphere that filled his home during games.

Above all else, Theodore was an incredible father. His unconditional love for his children was the cornerstone of their lives. He is survived by his beloved children, Jason Keniston (Kayla) of Black Diamond, Washington; Theodore Keniston III (Mandra) of Fort Moore, Georgia; Kevin (Lynne) Gardiner of Columbia, South Carolina; Sheryl Matheney of Plano, Texas; Sallee Keniston of Salem; and Jae Keniston of Medina.

The legacy of Theodore D. Keniston Sr. also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Avery, Brooklyn, Colin, Estelle, Berkeley, and Blaze.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents, Sallie (Popplewell) and John Keniston; his brothers, John Keniston Jr., David Keniston, Ronald Keniston, James (Larry) Keniston, and his twin brother, Timothy Keniston; his sister, Nancy Keniston, and his son, Theodore Keniston Jr.

Theodore D. Keniston Sr. will be remembered for his generous spirit and the warmth that he extended to everyone he met.
