Thomas Danklef Obituary

SALEM - Thomas R. Danklef, 86, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1933 in Dayton, OH, a son of the late Raymond and Helen (McFall) Danklef.

Thomas was a 1951 graduate of Goshen High School.  He was a Tool and Die maker at General Motors for 30 years until retirement.  Thomas served his country in the Navy Reserves and the United States Army.  He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Salem Elks Lodge #305. 

Thomas enjoyed golfing and woodworking, where he made carvings and miniature guns.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

His wife, Bonnie (Layden) Danklef, whom he married December 27, 1957, preceded him in death August 23, 2014.

He is survived by four daughters, Marcie (Tom) Madden of Somerset, OH, Melinda (Ken) Schwingle of Damascus, Michele (Alan) Kornbau of Salem, and Marcia (Monte) Langstraat of Granville, OH; two brothers, Steve (Lois) Danklef of Salem and Jack (Eldora) Danklef of Salem; and seven grandchildren, Michele, Danielle, James, Mark, Thomas, Regina, and Lilly.

Besides his parents and wife, Thomas was preceded in death by one brother, David Danklef.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
