Thomas R. Shafer

GUILFORD LAKE - Thomas Raymond Shafer, passed away on March 22, 2025, at UH-Cleveland following a short illness. Born to the late John William and Rosemary (Eggerman) Shafer on October 23, 1958, in Lima, Ohio, Tom was a devoted family man, cherished by many for his warmth and jovial spirit.

Tom met the love of his life, Gloria (Moore) Shafer, and they united in marriage on February 25, 2006, embarking on a journey filled with love and companionship. Together, they raised four sons, Jedidiah (Anna), Joshua (Tonya), Joseph, Zachary, and daughter, Rachel (Kenny Adams) Hill. The joy of his life was further multiplied by his 11 grandchildren, Trinity, Scott, Daune, Teagen, Cami, Charity, Exten, Remi, Alona, Mark, and Danny. He is also survived by brothers, Ron Shafer, Johnny Shafer; and sisters, Karen Shafer and Tammy Doyle.

Tom dedicated many years to the production department at KMI in Minerva, where his work ethic and commitment were well recognized. Outside of work, he devoted his time and guidance as an elder at Salem First Presbyterian Church, where he touched numerous lives through his faith and service.

An outdoorsman at heart, Tom relished hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling. He was an avid NASCAR fan and seldom missed the summer music concerts in his community. His cozy evenings were often spent playing with his fur babies, Cuddles and Susie, who will surely miss his gentle touch.

Tom's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on through the lives he touched. Tom's memory will be revered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Salem First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Annie Parker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Presbyterian Church Pavillion Fund, 436 E. Second St., Salem, Ohio 44460.
