SALEM - Thomas E. Thompson, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Born March 28, 1954, in Trenton, Michigan, he was the son of the late Eugene and Virginia Thompson.
A proud graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1973, Tom went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Seabees, embodying dedication and resilience throughout his service.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Nancy (DiAntonio) Thompson, whom he married on May 4, 1989. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Ragan (Dave) Pryjma of Canfield, and a loving Pop Pop to his cherished grandsons, Christian, Kenneth, Collin, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Lichtenwalter, along with many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family over the years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Zachary C Thompson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Herb Nannah.
Tom was an avid boater who found joy on the Ohio River, spending countless hours fishing and sharing his passion with friends who became lifelong companions. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he was known for his generosity – whether assisting family, fellow boaters, or neighbors in need.
In honor of Tom’s love for Ozzy, Nancy’s cherished guide dog, memorial contributions may be made to Pilot Dogs, www.pilotdogs.org, or an organization close to his heart.
A celebration of his life will be held privately by his family.
