SALEM-Tracy L. Early, 56, passed away on January 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born on December 21, 1969, in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Joan (Loudon) Early.
A graduate of Salem High School, Tracy's thirst for knowledge and her desire to empower others through education led her to Muskingum University. There, she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary, preschool, and special education in 1992. She continued her academic trail, achieving her master's degree in educational administration in 1998, and was working on completing her doctorate in educational leadership.
Tracy's professional journey was as impactful as it was impressive. She began her career with East Palestine City Schools, where she served as a middle/elementary teacher and later, the special education director and assistant elementary principal. Her leadership skills and passion for student growth were further recognized when she accepted the role of elementary principal/special education director with Leetonia Exempted Village Schools, a position she held for five years. In 2007, she joined Waterloo Local Schools as the elementary principal for seven years. Tracy concluded her career within the Cuyahoga Falls City School Districts, where she led with distinction at Lincoln Elementary, Silver Lake Elementary, and Roberts Middle School, before retiring in July of 2025.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Tracy's zest for life was evident through her diverse interests. A creative person, she found joy in quilting and crafting, gifting many of her beautiful creations to friends. Kayaking and casino trips were a thrilling escape, and time spent with friends was something she cherished. Tracy had a great love for music, attending many concerts through the years, and faithfully followed her favorite musician's career, Billy Ray Cyrus. Her passion for sports was unwavering as she loyally cheered on her beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tracy's legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, the educational programs she enhanced, and the community she loved. Even in death, Tracy continued to give to others by being an eye donor.
Tracy is survived by cousins, Janice (George) Black of Lisbon, OH, Karen (Arden) Harris of Salem, OH, and several other cousins; and many friends who helped her through her fight.
Tracy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Richard and Joan (Loudon) Early; and her siblings, Richard Scott Early, infant Lesley Early, and infant Scott Early.
Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, where a funeral service will follow at noon. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery at a later date.
