Tsia Fah Sung, born April 5, 1929, passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Throughout his long and meaningful life, he was known for his hardworking spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
In his youth, he escaped communist China in the 1940s and embarked on a remarkable journey that took him around the world as a seafarer on a merchant ship. Those early years shaped his resilience and broadened his view of the world. He later immigrated to the United States, where he built a new life through determination and skill, establishing a long and respected career in the restaurant industry. He eventually became head chef at several notable Westchester County, New York establishments, including Tropical Acres, Lighthouse, and Water Wheel Inn — roles in which he took great pride.
Tsia Fah Sung is survived by his sons Daniel (ex-wife, Laura), Henry, and John (wife, Jacqueline), who will forever cherish the love, wisdom, and stories he shared. He is also survived by his grandchildren Allison, Karina, Amy, Tyler, Madison, and Camryn, and by his great‑grandchildren Gabriella Guerra and Emily Pagan — each carrying forward a piece of his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith; his son, Harry; his daughter‑in‑law, Carol Ann; and his granddaughter, Evelyn Pagan. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral or public showing. The family will gather for a private burial on January 10, 2026, to lay him to rest and reflect on a life lived with purpose, resilience, and love.
