SALEM - Twila M. Kloos, 102, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at her home in Salem, Ohio, with her loving family by her side.
Twila was born on February 7, 1924, in Salem, Ohio, to the late Charles V. and Mary A. (Iseman) Kille. She graduated from Salem High School in 1942. Right after graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Frederick T. Kloos, Sr. They spent 64 loving years together until his passing in December of 2006.
She was a wonderful cook and baker. Those who knew Twila well, and even those who just met her, were always well taken care of. She fed them, shared stories with them, and left everyone with an overwhelming assurance that they were welcome back anytime. Twila was also known for her incredible lemon meringue pies and chocolate crinkle cookies—treats that brought joy to countless friends and family gatherings. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, or just a simple afternoon, her baked goods were a symbol of comfort, love, and home.
Twila and her husband spent more than 60 years on their dairy farm, where they raised their children and created a home full of warmth and welcome. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her children, helping support them through life’s many ups and downs, always caring for them. At the same time, she lovingly fed and cared for the many farm workers who passed through their lives, treating them as her own. The farm was not just a place of work but a gathering place where lifelong friendships were formed, neighbors became family, and Twila’s kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She helped create the happy home they lived so comfortably in for many years.
Twila will be dearly missed by her son, Stephen (Phyllis) Kloos; three daughters, Judith (Bob) Doyle, Shellee (Jim) Murcko, and Connee (Dan) Lawlis; and a sister, Mariam Folmer. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick Kloos, Sr.; an infant daughter, Karen S. Kloos; a son, Frederick Kloos Jr.; four brothers, Charles Kille, James Burd, Wesley Kille, and Ellsworth Kille; and three sisters, LaVerne Moffett, Esta Berardi, and Norma Ballis.
She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem.
