Vera Marie Morrison

SALEM — Vera M. Morrison (nee Waggle), age 68, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Akron General Hospital. She was born July 8, 1953 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Edgar and Helen Karas Waggle.

A 1971 graduate of Salem High School, Vera enjoyed a 29-year tenure with Crane Deming Pump as Grievance Person for Union Local 2463. A sharp and caring person, Vera was proud to skillfully negotiate contracts for her coworkers - many of whom became friends. She was widely known and appreciated for her fair and altruistic nature that allowed her to reach solutions that worked for everyone. After the plant’s closing, she worked for Interstate Pump until her retirement in 2014.

Vera will be fondly remembered for her exuberant enjoyment of life, a smile that lit up the room, and her boisterous, contagious laugh. She was Catholic by faith and enjoyed a wide variety of passions, including: cooking incredibly delicious food, Dave Matthews Band concerts, singing and dancing, spending time with loved ones, collecting snowmen, spending time outside enjoying her “Zen Garden,” rooting for the Cleveland Browns, and being a true fashionista who loved her “bling.”

She leaves to cherish her memories a beloved son, Eric, her sister and caregiver, Felicia Waggle, and her pup children, Lola and Marty. She will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew her.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Stark Memorial. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Msgr. Peter Polando officiating. All are welcome to attend.
