Vera G. Cain

SALEM - Vera G. Cain, 96 of Salem, died at 1:56pm on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living Salem with her loving granddaughter at her side.

She was born on April 27th, 1929, in Salem, the daughter of John and Mary (Matuscak) Sox.

She graduated from Greenford High School in 1948 and worked at Salem China, The Church Budget and retired in 1994 from Salem Label. She was a member of Greenford Christian Church and United Quilt Guild. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, line dancing, bowling, ceramics, and most of all, time spent with family.

Vera was known for her rambunctious spirit and made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and the love she showed her family and friends.

Her husband, Robert J Cain, whom she married November 6th, 1949, preceded her in death February 12th, 2000. Her six sisters, Mary Bricker, Helen Gideon, Elizabeth Lippiatt, Pauline White, Ruth Suliot, Dorothy Baer, and her two brothers, Edward and Joe Sox, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, John “Junior” Sox; three sons, Dan (Cindy) Cain, Dave (Lorrie) Cain, Doug (Tammy) Cain; one daughter Melissa (Tom) Baronzzi; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

Public calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 4th from 5 to 7pm at Stark Memorial Funeral Home located at 1014 E. State St, Salem, OH. A private funeral officiated by pastor John Bush of the Greenford Christian Church will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
