Walter J. Good

SALEM - Walter J. Good, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 10, 1940, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Volk) Good.

Walter's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his craft, and his community. Walter attended Salem High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong career as a skilled bricklayer. He was well-respected in his trade and was known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Beyond his professional life, Walter was an active member of the Mahoning County Coon Hunters Club, where he shared his love for the outdoors and wildlife with fellow enthusiasts.

Walter's legacy is carried on by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Good, whom he married on May 10, 1959. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his son, David (Ida) Good; his grandchildren, Eric Rininger, Devan Rininger, Linsey Good, Charles Good, Nickolas Good, Joshua Good and William Booth; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Zimmerman and Helen Wellendorf; his brothers, John Good, Henry (Pat) Good, and Ronald (Marcia) Good; and his sister-in-law, Darlene Good.

Walter was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Rininger; son, Robert Good; grandson, Kasey James Good; brother, Tom Good; son-in-law, Tim Rininger; his brothers-in-law, Richard Zimmerman and Chuck Wellendorf; as well as his sister-in-law, Miriam Good.

Arrangements for Walter J. Good are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

His life will be celebrated and remembered in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Per his wishes there will be no services held.
